The Symposium, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will bring together regulatory bodies, cybersecurity leaders and gaming executives to explore the evolving cyber threat landscape. With the gaming sector handling vast amounts of sensitive data, the industry has become a global target for cybercriminals.
The event will serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and building networks to fortify cybersecurity defences across Canada’s gaming sector.
Graham Reed, VP Cyber & Information Security at OLG and Chair of the Symposium, says: “Canadian gaming is in a pivotal era for information security. By fostering dialogue between industry players, we can help everyone navigate the challenges with more confidence.”
Mikko Hyppönen, Chief Research Officer at WithSecure, will provide insights into cybercriminal tactics and the role of Generative AI in modern threats. His keynote address will focus on how gaming platforms are targeted by organized cybercrime.
Aidan Brain, VP of Conference Production at SBC, adds: “As the technology evolves, so do the threats. This Symposium is about creating a united front, strengthening our collective defences to ensure the continued integrity of the gaming experience across Canada.”
The event’s sessions include discussions on Regulatory Compliance, Network Security and Vulnerability Management. Experts like Tony Wong from OLG, Karl Rempel from AGCO and Lina Dabit from RCMP will delve into the regulatory frameworks shaping cybersecurity in gaming.
Dan Whiteley from BEDE Gaming, Rick Carville from Great Canadian Entertainment and Bryan Pollitt from EY will explore lateral attacks and network vulnerabilities.
